At Woodlands Recovery Centers, we make it our mission to offer treatment to as many people as possible. To achieve that goal, we provide a wide variety of treatment programs that fit everyone’s needs. Because of this, we offer a residential treatment program in addition to an intensive outpatient program. Both of these programs have a lot to offer, but an intensive outpatient program has more benefits for some than others.
What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?
First, it’s important to understand what an intensive outpatient program is. Intensive outpatient clients don’t live at Woodlands Recovery Centers. Instead, they visit our facilities a few times a week to receive treatment. During their visits, they have access to the same treatment services as our residential clients.
Should People Start With Outpatient Programs?
In general, we don’t recommend that people start with intensive outpatient treatment. Instead, we recommend that they graduate to outpatient care after finishing inpatient treatment. Outpatient programs offer a lot of freedom, but most people have trouble controlling themselves during the early stages of recovery.
Once they finish inpatient rehab, they can move on to outpatient rehab. Studies show that people who complete both inpatient and outpatient rehab are less likely to relapse after treatment. That’s why Woodlands Recovery Centers offer both.
Benefits of Outpatient Programs
The benefits of residential treatment are pretty clear. People have access to 24-hour treatment and live in a controlled environment. However, what are the benefits of an intensive outpatient program?
First, outpatient programs give people more freedom. Those who are able to handle this freedom can fulfill their responsibilities while still attending treatment. For example, they can still take care of their children and tend to responsibilities at work. They can even continue their education while they get treatment.
Outpatient treatment is also more affordable. Some people can’t afford inpatient treatment. To make matters worse, not all insurance policies cover inpatient care. Outpatient programs are another option for people who can’t afford residential treatment.
It’s also important to remember that intensive outpatient clients have access to all the same services as residential clients. When outpatient clients visit Woodlands Recovery Centers, they can still participate in therapy and other alternative treatment programs.
Let Woodlands Recovery Centers Fight for You
At Woodlands Recovery Centers, we want to fight for you. Whether you’re an inpatient or outpatient client, we want to help you overcome addiction. We offer a wide range of programs to help our clients, including:
- Dual diagnosis treatment
- Family therapy
- Art therapy and music therapy
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
At Woodlands Recovery Centers, we use alternative rehab methods in addition to traditional strategies such as family, individual and group therapy. Some of our alternative or holistic methods include yoga and art therapy to help our clients reduce stress. We find that they can focus better on treatment after they engage in these activities.
